Sri Lankan Defence Secretary visits Russian arms expo

Sri Lanka’s Secretary to the Ministry of Defence attended a military exhibition in Russia this week, as part of a visit to the region after expressing interest in Russian arms and ships.

Kapila Waidyaratne is currently in Moscow, where the Sri Lanka Ministry of Defence reported he attended the ‘International Military - Technical Forum’.

“The latest technical aspects of defence and military technical related industries were showcasing their products,” it further added.

Mr Waidyaratne visited the exposition and also watched demonstrations of the arms on sale. He then later visited the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow.

During his trip he also met with “top officials of the Federal Services of Military & Technical Cooperation, Russian Federation & JSC- Rosoboronexport” and held a meeting with the Russian Deputy Minister of Defence Alexander Fomin.
