Expansion continues at Sri Lanka’s Eastern army base

The Sri Lankan military has constructed a new accommodation block for soldiers at its Eastern headquarters, declared an official army website last week.

The new block, which will house dozens of Sri Lankan soldiers, was declared open at a ceremony at the base last week.

“This building is among the series of construction works carried out to uplift the accommodation and other basic facilities,” reported the military website, noting that soldiers worked “round the clock” to finish construction within two months.
