Bashir's visa application 'deplorable' says Washington

Sudanese President Omar Bashir, wanted by the International Criminal Court, has applied for a visa to travel to the UN General Assembly in New York.

Describing the request as "deplorable" Reuters quoted a senior State Department official as saying it was "deplorable" and he would "not receive a warm welcome" at the UN.

The official reportedly added,
"I am not going to speak to the specifics of this case, but typically as a host nation the United States is generally obligated to admit foreign nationals, but visas broadly speaking can be restricted,"

Burma to collaborate with UN nuclear weapons inspectors

Burma has reportedly agreed to give United Nations weapons inspectors wider access to facilities that could be used to develop nuclear technology.

African Union members consider ICC walkout

Kenya is pushing for a walkout of African Union stated from the International Criminal Court, accusing the ICC of unfairly targeting African leaders.

The push comes after elected Kenyan leaders, such as Kenyatta, were prosecuted by the ICC.

Taliban sets conditions for talks, as bomb kills Pakistan General

The Taliban in Pakistan has outlined conditions for talks to begin, demanding that the Pakistan government release Taliban prisoners and being withdrawing its troops from the tribal region on the Afghanistan border, as a prerequisite for taking part in talks.

The news comes as a high-ranking Pakistani General was killed in a roadside bomb along with two other soldiers on Sunday. The Taliban have claimed responsibility for the killing of Major General Sanaullah Khan, said the Pakistani army.

Russia and US form new agreement on Syria

In  a joint news conference with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State John Kerry, outlined a new framework which involved the handing over of Syria's arsenal of chemical weapons.

The outlined agreement called for Assad's regime to hand over of all chemical weapons and the consequent destruction of them by mid 2014.
