Australia deports a further 25 people

 
The Australian government repatriated a further 25 people to the island of Sri Lanka today, bringing the total to 1000.
Australian Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Brendan O'Connor, was quoted as saying,
"Returning this group to Sri Lanka sends the powerful message that people who pay smuggles are throwing their money away and risking their lives in the process."
Australia is working closely with the Sri Lankan navy to monitor and prevent people from leaving the island of Sri Lanka.
The most recent cases of repatriation, comes amidst further evidence of the torture of people repatriated to Sri Lanka.
