The US administration, on Friday, removed Cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism following a round of negotiations, reports the Washington Post.
The order was signed by the US Secretary of State john Kerry, removed Cuba from a list which holds Iran, Syria and Sudan.
A spokesperson for the State Department, Jeff Rathke, said,
“While the United States has significant concerns and disagreements with a wide range of Cuba’s policies and actions, these fall outside the criteria relevant to the rescission of a State Sponsor of Terrorism designation.”
The removal comes as talks about reopening US embassies in Cuba continues.
