‘No constructive measures taken’ say TNA MPs

Parliamentarians form the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) stated no constructive measures have been taken on a range of issues affecting the Tamils of the North-East, and called for support of the 19th amendment to be reconsidered.

“The 100 day plan has concluded, however, requests put forward by us have not been paid attention to,” said the TNA’s Selvam Adaikkalanathan, Sivasakthi Ananthan and Vino Nogatharalingam from Vanni, in a joint statement.

“No constructive measures have been taken about issues such as land grabs, High Security Zones, disappeared persons, the release of the political prisoners, or the livelihood of widow women,” they added. "The new government has not even fulfilled its promises, but the 19th amendment is to be passed in the parliament on the 19th... how can we accept and support this?”

"The voice for the change of government was strengthened as no healthy measures were taken [by the previous government] for the Tamil people after the war,” they added.
