British Tamils gathered outside Downing Street to mark the 38th anniversary of Black July, when thousands of Tamils were killed by Sinhala mobs backed by the Sri Lankan state.

Protestors chanted slogans and held placards demanding justice for the mass atrocities committed by various Sri Lankan regimes and called for an end to the ongoing occupation of the Tamil homeland.
38 years ago today, Sinhala mobs used voter registration lists to identify Tamil and attack them, their properties, and their businesses.
Eye witness reports described mobs chasing Tamils down the street with knives and setting them alight alive. Hundreds of women were raped. Tamil political prisoners locked up in Welikada jail, deep within the island's south, were also targeted as prison guards allowed Sinhala inmates to slaughter them.
