Former LTTE intelligence chief sentenced to life imprisonment
A former Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) intelligence chief, Thangavelu Nimalan has been sentenced to life imprisonment for allegedly possessing 2 kilograms of high explosives.
Colombo High Court delivered the sentence on Friday after a case was filed against Nimalan in 2011.
A number of other cases have also been filed against Nimalan, including an alleged claymore attack on a Sri Lanka Special Task Force (STF) truck on May 28, 2007 in Ratmalana.
These allegations remain under investigation.

Speaking at the launch of a biography on Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, member of the Indian National Congress (INC) party, Rahul Gandhi, claimed a deep tie historic tie to Tamil Nadu and slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for imposing his ideas on the state.
