The Tamil Youth Organisation (TYO) hosted its annual Tamil Youth Conference in London on Saturday, bringing together more than 100 Eelam Tamil youth from nine European countries in a gathering that combined political reflection, professional development and cultural expression.

The conference, organised to foster leadership and solidarity among young Tamils in the diaspora, opened with a keynote address that outlined its goals while underscoring the continued relevance of the Tamil Eelam liberation struggle.

Over the course of the day, participants engaged in sessions covering career development and professional growth, the history and politics of Eelam Tamils, contemporary global affairs and the work of the Tamil Youth Organisation itself. The event concluded with a cultural evening portraying the struggle of the Poorali, which encouraged reflection on sacrifice, resistance and the responsibilities of the next generation.

A recurring theme throughout the discussions was the importance of excelling in professional fields while remaining firmly rooted in Tamil identity and national consciousness. The interactive format encouraged questions, note-taking and dialogue, creating space for meaningful exchange and collective learning.
The line-up of guest speakers included:
• Dr Suthaharan Nadarajah, Senior Lecturer in International Relations at SOAS, University of London.
• Dr Sivakami Rajamanoharan, Eelam Tamil activist, who delivered a talk on “Tamil activism: women resist.”
• Mr Sujeendran Nagendrarajah, researcher in Peace and Conflict Studies.
• SJ Fatimaharan, Senior Political Analyst
• a representative from International Diplomatic Council of Tamil Eelam (IDCTE)
Speakers offered academic, activist and analytical insights, urging participants to think critically, act purposefully and remain grounded in a collective vision.
The day closed with a formal ceremony in which certificates of participation were presented, marking the commitment of attendees and the successful conclusion of the conference.
The Tamil Youth Conference 2025 stood as a reaffirmation of the strength and resilience of Eelam Tamil youth across Europe, and their determination to continue the legacy of their people while working towards a just and liberated future.
