Indian army commander visits Jaffna and Trinco

The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command of the Indian Army visited Jaffna and Trincomalee this week, meeting with Sri Lankan military commanders.

Lieutenant General P.M Hariz is on what the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence termed, a “goodwill tour to the island”.

He was given a red carpet welcome in Palali by Sri Lankan troops, where he held meetings with senior military commanders.

The Sri Lankan military went on to state the Indian commander was briefed on the “ongoing reconciliation process” by the Jaffna Commander (SF-J) when he visited Palaly.

During his visit, he also visited the tombstone to a former major general who headed an Indian Peacekeeping Force camp in Koppay.
