Tamils rallied through Mullaitivu this morning to reject Sri Lanka's 75th Independence Day, arguing that the Tamil nation are denied basic rights.
The demonstrators renewed their calls for justice for enforced disappearances, accountability at the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the Tamil genocide, an end to land grabs and the release of all political prisoners.
Sri Lanka's Independence Day is regarded as a 'black day' for the Tamil nation as it continues to be occupied by Sri Lanka.
The rally, organised by the Tamil National People's Front (TNPF) began in Mullaitivu market and ended outside Mullaitivu's District Secretariat.
