Jaffna Tamils protested against attempts by the Sri Lankan military to acquire 40 acres of private land for the Naval Base Camp in Karainagar.
The Tamil National People's Front (TNPF) joined demonstrators who staged protests after government land surveyors audited the land in Karainagar. They surveyors claimed they had signed documents showing that they would not permit the land to be stolen by the military.
