Another Tamil father dies searching for his son

The father of another disappeared Tamil teenager has died, more than a decade after his son was forcibly disappeared, and still with no answers as to his whereabouts.

Ponniah Nagarasa, a father from Pudukkudiyiruppu area, passed away yesterday.

He had been involved in Tamil protests that have been ongoing for years, demanding action and justice for the thousands of forcibly disappeared Tamils.

Nagarasa Pratas, was just 18 years old, when he was forcibly disappeared in Pokkanai, on March 23, 2009. At the time the Sri Lankan military had launched a massive offensive into the area, which eventually killed tens of thousands of civilians.

Mr Nagarasa’s daughter, Subashini was a cadre with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. Known as Major Senthanikai, she was martyred during the armed struggle,
