Sudan’s President Omar al-Bashir has expressed his intention to step down from his presidency when his mandate ends in 2020, reports the BBC.
Mr Bashir who has been in power since 1989, has been indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) on counts of Genocide and war crimes.
Commenting on allegations of abuses committed by his forces, he told the BBC,
“all these allegations are baseless, none of these reports is true. We challenge anyone to visit the areas recaptured by armed forces, and find a single village that has been torched.”
