A three member team of UN appointed investigators for the Commission of Inquiry, said that the violations ere occurring on a “scope and scale seldom witnessed elsewhere.”
The United Nations report, found that “systematic, widespread gross human rights violations have been and are been committed in Eritrea under the authority of the government.”
“The commission concludes that the government is accountable for the widespread torture inflicted on Eritreans throughout the country,” the report added.
The report noted that several hundreds of thousands had fled Eritrea due to the ongoing violations, and urged the international community to welcome felling Eritrean refugees.
