International investigators find undeclared chemical weapons agents in Syria

International inspectors in Syria have found undeclared traces of sarin and VX nerve agent at a military research site, reports Reuters.

The Organisation for the Prohibition and Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which tested samples of agents taken during their visits in December and January, told Reuters on the condition of anonymity, there was “a pretty strong indication they (Syria) have been lying about what they did with sarin. They have so far been unable to give a satisfactory explanation about this finding.”

OPCW inspectors have visited Syria eight times in attempts to verify claims of chemical weapon usage, including a recent fact finding mission to establish details of recent chlorine gas attacks in Syrian villages.
