A Malaysia Airlines plane with 295 passengers was shot down over the near the disputed city of Donetsk in Ukraine.
Ukrainian officials denied any involvement in the shooting, with the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, condemning the event as an act of terrorism.
A deleted social media message recovered by Sky News, found that the commander of the separatist pro-Russian Donetsk People’s Republic, Igor Strelkov commented on the event straight after the plane was shot to the ground.
“We warned you not to fly over our sky,” he allegedly wrote.
The separatist leader, Alexander Borodai, denied allegations that his group was responsible for shooting down the passenger plane and blamed Ukraine’s government forces for the attack.
