Kurdish leaders vowed to boycott the Iraq cabinet on Thursday, demanding an apology from Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, for his remarks accusing Kurdistan of harbouring ISIS fighters.
Mr Maliki made those comments whilst visiting the Kurdistan's capital Irbil on Wednesday.
"Honestly, we cannot be silent over this and we cannot be silent over Erbil being a headquarters for Daash, and the Baath, and Al-Qaeda and terrorist operations," Mr Maliki was quoted as saying by Middle East Eye.
Urging Mr Maliki to resign, a spokesperson for the Kurdish leader Massoud Barzani said Mr Maliki "had become hysterical and has lost his balance."
According to the BBC, the most senior Kurdish representative in the Iraqi government said Mr Maliki's comments "meant to hide the big security fiasco", vowing that Kurds would boycott the cabinet "until further notice".
