Israel launched launched air strikes at nine targets in Syria, responding to the killing of a 14 year old boy in the Golan Heights by a missile attack on Sunday.
See here, here and here.
Stating that the missile attack was "clearly intentional", the IDF said it was the "most serious provocation, which comes after a series of terror attacks in recent months on the IDF in the border region in general, and in this area in particular".
The boy, identified as an Arab Israeli citizen, Muhammad Karaka, was the son of a defence contractor.
The Golan Heights was captured by Israeli forces from Syria during the 1967 Middle East War. The two countries technically remain in a state of war.
