The US President, Barack Obama, in a speech on US foreign policy, pledged to continue supporting the Syrian opposition whilst using international institutions to tackle problems such as border disputes and climate change, reports The Guardian.
Despite outlining a policy that looked to step away from US boots on foreign soil, Obama added that there were still legitimate cases for US military interventionism.
Stressing the need for multilateral action to remedy the situation in regions of Eastern Ukraine, Obama added,

“We have a real stake – an abiding self-interest – in making sure our children grow up in a world where school girls are not kidnapped; where individuals aren’t slaughtered because of the or faith or political beliefs,” said the president.
Stressing the need for multilateral action to remedy the situation in regions of Eastern Ukraine, Obama added,
“We don’t know how the situation will play out and there will remain great challenges ahead, but standing with our allies on behalf of international order working with international institutions, has given a chance for the Ukrainian people to choose their future.”
