The Israeli prime minister today declared an end to peace talks with Palestine in response to a unity deal struck between the Fatah-led Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and Hamas.
The decision came after a five hour meeting of the Israeli Security Cabinet reports the Financial Times.
A political analyst who worked closely with Netenyahu in the 90’s, warned that Israel would now be able to deflect responsibility for unsuccessful peace talks.

“Instead of choosing peace, Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas, formed an alliance with a murderous terrorist organisation that calls for the destruction of Israel,” said Prime Minister Netanyahu shortly after the meeting.Analysts believe that the decision will help Netenyahu domestically in appeasing most of his right-centred coalition that were against peace-talks.
“The agreement between Abu Mazen and Hamas was signed even as Israel is making efforts to advance the negotiations with Palestinians. It is the direct continuation of the Palestinians’ refusal to advance negotiations,” he added.

“In terms of Israel’s international relations he can say ‘I told you so: Abbas didn’t want peace and was supporting terrorism and the proof is he’s got together with Hamas which is a terror organisation. It’s not because of us the peace-talks stopped, but because of the Palestinians,” Mitchell Barak told the Financial Times.See related article:
