British Premier looks to apply political and economic pressure on Russia

The British Premier, David Cameron, reiterated today that the UK would resort to diplomatic, political and economic sanctions in order de-escalate the situation in Ukraine.

Speaking after chairing a meeting of the National Security Council , said,

“What we want to see is a de-escalation rather than a continuation down the path that Russia has taken, violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of another country. So we shall have to bring to bear diplomatic, political, economic and other pressures in order to make this point. That is the very clear message the whole world needs to send to the Russian government.”

Earlier today Russian forces gave Ukrainian troops an alleged ultimatum to surrender their weapons.
