GL Peiris denies funding British parliamentarian trips to Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan Government today denied allegations that it had brought over British parliamentarians on expenses paid trips  ahead of the Commonwealth summit in November.

Responding to the allegations, Ministry of External Affairs, G.L Peiris, said that several British MPs had visited the country to see for themselves the actual ground situation in the country. Peiris insisted that the only Sri Lankan government involvement with the visit was to provide a ‘familiarisation tour’ for the MPs once they arrived in Sri Lanka.
