The Palestinian Authority has said it will seek membership of individual UN agencies if peace talks fail, reports The Times.
The Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) said that it was preparing for the possibility of joining 16 agencies in April next year if talks failed with Israel.
A senior member of the PLO, Hanan Ashrawi, said,

“We are ready.. Everything is in place and will be set in motion.”The Times remarked, 'Acceptance of the Palestinians as members of any of the agencies would automatically trigger a congressional ban on American funding for the organisation, forcing Washington to choose between a loss of leadership within the world body and its stalwart backing for Israel there.'
