China detains human rights activist

The Chinese government has allegedly detained a human rights activist, who was involved in a sit-in outside the Foreign Ministry to press for the public to be allowed to contribute to a national human rights report.

According to a close confidante, Liu Xiafan, the activist, Cau Shunli, went missing in mid-September after authorities prevented her from flying to Geneva to attend a human rights training course.
