Seven people were reportedly killed in a terrorist attack on a US consulate building in the Afghan city of Herat.
A group of five suicide bombers detonated a van full of explosives near the gate of the Consulate, injuring as many as twenty civilians in the surrounding area.
The explosion was followed by a fire-fight, in which several insurgents were killed and unable to breech the Consulate walls.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
