The 'Voice of Justice' campaign was launched in Chemmani, Jaffna on August 23, calling for international justice for the genocide committed against the Tamil nation.
The campaign, organised by the Homeland Action Front, commenced at Chemmani, the site where Tamil school girl Krishanthi Kumaraswamy was brutally raped and murdered by Sri Lankan soldiers. Her case exposed mass graves in the area. Excavations of the Chemmani mass graves are currently underway, with a total of 169 skeletal remains having been identified.

At Chemmani, the organisers of the campaign observed a moment of silence to remember those who have lost their lives at the hands of the Sri Lankan state.

As part of the campaign, the organisers have been collecting signatures from people from across the Tamil homeland to demand justice and accountability for the Tamil nation. The petition will be submitted to the United Nations ahead of the next Human Rights Council session in September where Sri Lanka's human rights situation will be discussed.
The campaign organisers have put forward the following demands:
1. The Tamil homeland, nationhood, and the right to self-determination must be recognised.
2. Justice must be swiftly delivered at the international level to the relatives of the forcibly disappeared who continue to search for their loved ones.
3. All Tamil political prisoners, who have been detained for long periods without release, must be freed immediately and unconditionally.
4. Journalists must be permitted to carry out their work with independence and without interference.
5. The draconian Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and the prevailing emergency regulations, which continue to be used as instruments of Tamil oppression, must be repealed forthwith. At the same time, the fundamental rights of the Tamil people—including the right to free expression, the right to speech, the right to access and enjoy resources, the right to seek justice, and the right to freedom of movement—must be recognised.
6. All forms of land-grabbing projects carried out under the guise of state institutions such as the Department of Archaeology, Department of Wildlife Conservation, Department of Forest Conservation, Mahaweli Development Authority, and the Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management Department must be halted immediately. Lands already seized from the Tamil people by the Sri Lankan military must be returned to their rightful owners.
7. All illegal Sinhala settlements, deliberately established with the aim of disrupting the territorial integrity and demographic composition of the Tamil homeland, must be dismantled, and the process of Buddhisisation must be brought to an end.
8. A full international investigation must be conducted into all mass graves, including those uncovered at Chemmani.
9. Other countries must follow the example of the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada by imposing travel bans on the military officials responsible for the genocide of the Tamil people.
10. The United Nations must take measures to protect both the victims and the witnesses of the Tamil genocide.
11. At the forthcoming September 2025 session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, all states must press for the adoption of a strong resolution mandating an international investigation into the genocide committed in Sri Lanka.
