Thousands of British Tamils from across the country came together to commemorate Maaveerar Naal, honouring the sacrifices of their fallen heroes through moving tributes, cultural performances, and remembrance ceremonies held in cities including London and Oxford.
In London, Tamils united in large numbers at the ExCel centre to remember the Tamil fighters, and commemorate Maaveerar Naal. Families of fallen LTTE fighters gathered by makeshift gravestones to remember their loved ones who gave their lives to the liberation struggle.
Ms. Ranji, the mother of a fallen Lieutenant, lit the inaugural lamp.
Mr Mahesan from the Tamil Coordinating Committee raised the Tamil Eelam national flag after Ms Gobitha from Tamil Youth Organisation raised the UK flag.
Thousands of photographs of fallen LTTE cadres were lined up and adorned with yellow and red garlands.

The ceremonial lamps were lit by Mr Sathees Sarma, Mr Elmo Adigalaar, Mr Amuthu Ilamchezhiyan, Ms Suganya Sothithaas, and Mr Thihalparuthi Tharma, representing various Tamil cultural and historical organisations.
The flag hoisting ceremonies were conducted by Mr Yogan Rathnam, for the UK flag, and Mr Sasi, for the Tamil Eelam flag.
