On Sunday, the University of Nottingham’s Tamil Society held an event to commemorate Maveerar Naal and pay respects to the sacrifices of those who fought.
Collaborating with members of the Young Revolutionaries in Solidarity, the youth wing of Tamil Solidarity, students discussed the history of Maveerar Naal and the significance of the karthigai poo.
‘As Tamil students from the University of Nottingham, we remember the efforts of our fallen heroes to restore our Tamil identity and dignity, to fight against the injustice we’ve faced for years,’ a representative of the Tamil society said.
The talks were followed by the students gathering to lay candles and a one-minute silence to reflect and remember the sacrifices of those who fought for Tamil Eelam.
