Swiss Tamils joined Tamils in the homeland to reject Sri Lanka's 73rd Independence Day and marked the day as a 'black day' for the Tamil nation.
Banners drew attention to the ongoing militarisation of the North-East by Sri Lanka's security forces and highlighted that domestic accountability mechanisms will protect Sri Lanka's war criminals.
The protest took place at the Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich and coincided with protests and hunger strikes in the North-East where Tamils defied a series of court bans and police intimidation to call on the international community to heed calls for justice and accountability.
