The appointment of Mavai Senathirajah to the position of General Secretary of Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK), following the resignation of S. Thuraisingham, has caused friction within the Tamil National Alliance (TNA), as some members claim that he cannot serve the post whilst also serving as leader of the TNA.
Senior party officials also report that whilst it was agreed that two senior positions in the TNA would go to TELO leader Selvam Adaikkilanathan and PLOTE leader Dharamlingam Siddharthan, this promise has not been fulfilled.
TNA officials also criticised the delay in registering the TNA as a political party but have agreed to meet and resolve issues.
The TNA comprises of ITAK, Tamil Eelam Liberation Organisation (TELO) and People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE).
