Lawyers and Swiss embassy officials accompany employee to Sri Lanka's CID

<p>Swiss embassy officials and lawyers accompanied an&nbsp;embassy employee who was abducted on November 25, as she gave a statement&nbsp;to Sri Lanka's&nbsp;Criminal Investigations Department earlier today, the <a href="http://www.dailymirror.lk/top_story/Swiss-local-staffer-gives-a-stateme…"><em>Daily</em> <em>Mirror </em></a>reported.</p> <p>The employee arrived at the CID with her lawyers, after Sri Lankan authorities had demanded she be interviewed by the Sri Lankan police.</p> <p><em><u><a href="http://www.island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&amp;page=articl…">The Island</a></u></em>&nbsp;reported that authorities also attempted to perform a medical examination, however, the employee refused.</p> <p>Earlier this week, the Colombo Chief Magistrate announced a travel ban against the Swiss embassy employee&nbsp;officially barring her&nbsp;from leaving Sri Lanka. The announcement came after reports emerged on Monday that Colombo’s international airport had been alerted by Sri Lankan authorities, that the victim may try and flee the island.&nbsp;Colombo Chief Magistrate, Lanka Jayaratne&nbsp;has&nbsp;also further extended the travel ban imposed on the employee until 12 December. &nbsp;</p> <p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/27/world/asia/sri-lanka-rajapaksa-crack…"><em>New York Times</em></a>&nbsp;reported&nbsp;the&nbsp;men "forced her to unlock her cellphone data, which contained information about Sri Lankans who have recently sought asylum in Switzerland, and the names of Sri Lankans who aided them as they fled the country because they feared for their safety&nbsp;after&nbsp;Gotabaya Rajapaksa won the presidency&nbsp;in elections this month". Before releasing her, they reportedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone of her ordeal.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
