The negotiations between Iran and the European Union recommenced on Wednesday, with the timing of the removal of sanctions proving to be a vital point in further successful negotiations.
The deputy foreign minister of Iran, Abbas Araqchi, after arriving in Vienna, said,
“All the economic sanctions should be lifted on the day that the deal is implemented.”
The US has said that sanctions will have to be phased out gradually.
Commenting on concerns that US Congress would delay the lifting of sanctions, Mr Araqchi said that Obama’s administration was “responsible to ensure that its commitments, particularly sanctions-related ones, are fulfilled.”
Talks between Iran and the EU political director Helga Schmid are set to continue until Thursday, with delegates for the 6 world powers joining the talks on Friday, reports Reuters.
