Iranian military officials captured in Yemen says pro-government militia

Local militia allied with Yemen’s government said they captured two Iranian officers advising Houthi rebels on Friday reports Reuters.

Sources on the ground told Reuters that an Iranian colonel and captain were captured in two separate districts that have seen heavy advances by Houthi militants.

“The initial investigation revealed that they are from Quds Force and are working as advisors to the Houthi militia. They have been put in a safe place and we will turn them over to Decisive Storm (the Saudi led coalition) to deal with them,” said one of the Yemen militia.

Meanwhile, Saudi led airstrikes, entered a third week of action by striking several Houthi military targets on Saturday. Saudi Arabia’s defence ministry said that over 500 Houthis has been killed since the conflict began.

Further reports on from the ground indicated that the Houthi militants were shelling civilian areas in their advances.

The Saudi government has accused Iran of backing the Houthi militants and aiding their advances in Yemen.
