US Marine Corps begins medical training program with Sri Lankan Navy

The United States Marine Corps Forces Pacific has begun a program for Sri Lankan troops on Preventive Medicine and Casualty Care this week.

According to an official Sri Lankan military website 70 naval personnel “belonging to the Marine Battalion, Special Boat Squadron, Rapid Action Boat Squadron and Medical Branch” will be trained by US forces.

A team from the Indian Armed Forces will also be in attendance.

The program, which started on 11 September, is due to run until 22 September.
