Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, leader of the Tamil National People's Front (TNPF) reiterated the call to send Sri Lankan war criminals to the International Criminal Court (ICC) as he demanded justice for the Tamil genocide earlier today.
Ponnambalam, who was recently re-elected to parliament in Jaffna, offered tributes at Mullivaikal today, the site of the 2009 genocide.
"The only solution to the genocide in the Tamil nation is to bring the Sri Lankan government and its war criminals to the International Criminal Court," said Ponnambalam.
His demands come in the wake of Sri Lanka’s parliamentary elections, which has seen the ruling National People Power’s (NPP) coalition secure a ‘super majority’.
Sri Lankan president Anura Kumara Dissanayake has previously declared he would not pursue prosecution of those accused of war crimes.
