Sri Lanka's foreign minister meets with Modi, Swaraj

Sri Lanka's foreign minister, Tilak Marapana met with the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi on Saturday in New Delhi as well as his counterpart, Sushma Swaraj. 

Mr Modi tweeted: "Held wide ranging discussions on India-Sri Lanka ties with SL's Foreign Minister, Mr. Tilak Marapana."

"Prime Minister reaffirmed the high importance that India attaches to its relations with Sri Lanka. Both countries enjoy deep and broad-based ties. Prime Minister conveyed that he looked forward to continue to work closely with the President and the Prime of Sri Lanka to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation," Mr Modi's website noted. 

The Ministry of External Affairs tweeted: "Building upon a close & historical bilateral relationship, EAM @SushmaSwaraj met Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister Tilak Marapana today.

This is Mr Marapana's second meeting with Ms Swaraj in recent weeks, following her visit to Sri Lanka.
