Sri Lankan president inspects construction of new defence HQ

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena paid a visit to Battaramulla last week, where the Ministry of Defence’s construction of a new headquarters is currently underway.

Mr Sirisena was accompanied by the Secretary to the President Austin Fernando and Commander of the Sri Lankan army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake whilst he inspected the construction site.

According to an official army website, the Sri Lankan president “shared a couple of words on modern technologies being used for erection of this headquarters complex”.
