Soldiers from the Sri Lankan army carried out repairs on the roof of a school building in Jaffna last week, as criticism over its involvement in civilian activites in the North-East continues.
An official military website reported that troops from the 4 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment carried out renovation work on two roofs at Drieberg College in Chavakachcheri.

Earlier this year the military also built toilet facilities at the school, which is one of the oldest in Jaffna and boasts alumni such as murdered TNA MP Raviraj.
Despite repeated calls for the military to desist from undertaking commercial or civilian work, the army continues to play a large role in civil life in the North-East.
