<p>Sri Lankan government ministers have resigned from their posts following Sajith Premadasa's defeat in the presidential election. </p>
<p>Minister of Defense and Minister of Mass Media, Ruwan Wijewardene and Minister of Development Strategy, Malik Samarawickrema, are the latest to resign from their ministerial roles. </p>
<p>Wijewardene tweeted, "while I congratulate Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse for his victory in the Presidential Election, I will be resigning as State Minister of Defense and Minister of Mass Media. I hope we will be able to build a nation free of division that unites all communities to take this country forward."</p>
<p>Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance, handed in his resignation letter to Maithripala Sirisena earlier today. Minister of Digital infrastructure and Information Technology, Ajith Perera and Minister of Sports, Telecommunications and Foreign Employment, Hardin Fernando are also amongst those who resigned. </p>
<p>These resignations came after Sajith Premadasa announced that he would be stepping down as Deputy Leader of the United National Party following Gotabaya's victory. </p>
