A defence delegation from Sri Lanka embarked on a visit to India’s Southern Naval Command in Kochi, where the two governments held discussions, including on training for Sri Lankan troops.
An Indian Press Information Bureau media release said Sri Lanka’s defence delegation met with Vice Admiral AR Karve, AVSM, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief at the sidelines of the 5th India Sri Lanka Annual Defence Dialogue
“Naval cooperation with Sri Lanka today covers a wide spectrum of activities, ranging from training to operations, which includes Capability Building and Capacity Augmentation, coordinated patrolling along the common maritime border, as well as port calls,” the press release added.
Training conducted by Indian Navy for Sri Lankan troops was also discussed.
Last month the head of Sri Lanka’s navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, visited the Southern Naval Command in Kochi and met with Sri Lankan troops who are currently undergoing training in the country.
