Sri Lankan Army chief discusses North-East with ICRC

A delegation from the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) in Sri Lanka met with the head of Sri Lankan army on Monday, to discuss the role of the military in the North-East.

Sri Lankan army media reported that Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake met with the head of the ICRC in Sri Lanka Claire Meytraud and the newly appointed Deputy Head Zakaria Maiga.

According to an official army website, the ICRC delegation “keen on receiving an update on the roles and tasks of the Army versus its interaction with the ICRC and Red Cross in Sri Lanka with special focus on the North and East”.
