Sri Lanka orders Swiss embassy employee to undergo medical examination

<p>Sri Lanka’s judiciary has ordered the embassy employee to undergo a medical examination as part of their investigation into the employee’s abduction and assault on November 25.&nbsp;</p> <p><a href="https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/diplomatic-issue_sri-lanka-orders-medical-…"><em>Swissinfo</em></a>&nbsp;reported that the employee is not medically fit to recount the incident but a judge has ordered for her to be produced before the Colombo Judicial Medical Officer today. The embassy employee has previously refused a medical examination by the Sri Lankan authorities.</p> <p>She was later questioned for a second time by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>A travel ban imposed on the employee earlier this week has also been extended&nbsp; until December 12.</p> <p>The Swiss embassy employee was abducted and assaulted by men who&nbsp; "forced her to unlock her cellphone data, which contained information about Sri Lankans who have recently sought asylum in Switzerland, and the names of Sri Lankans who aided them as they fled the country because they feared for their safety&nbsp;after&nbsp;Gotabaya Rajapaksa won the presidency&nbsp;in elections this month,” the<em><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/27/world/asia/sri-lanka-rajapaksa-crack…">&nbsp;New York Times</a></em>&nbsp;reported. Before releasing her, they reportedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone of her ordeal.</p>
