The Sri Lankan armed forces are to hold a defence seminar on ‘Countering Violent Extremism’ with hundreds of participants at the end of this month, according to army media.
The seminar, held for the seventh consecutive year, is to be attended by 800 participants, including 200 foreign representatives, according to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence.
The ministry went on to report that the seminar “provides an ideal platform for exchange of experiences and expertise with focus on formulation of collective mechanisms” and is “poised to muster serious attention on root causes that have so far wreaked havoc in nations, and highlight the significance of addressing those sprouts for sustenance of durable global peace and the healthy conduct of statecraft”.
The seminar is due to be held on the 28th and 29th of August in Colombo.
Last year, approximately 800 participants from 71 countries attended the military seminar.
