The relay hunger strike demanding international justice, organised by the Association of Relatives of the Forcibly Disappeared in the North and East, entered its fifth day today in Jaffna.
The protest, whichh commenced on the 25th of this month in Chemmani, Jaffna, is scheduled to continue until the 1st of October.

Launched to seek justice for human rights violations, including enforced disappearances, committed during Sri Lanka’s internal conflict, to reject domestic mechanisms of accountability, to call for an international investigation, and to demand justice for the Chemmani case, the hunger strike has drawn wide participation.
Relatives of the disappeared from the five northern districts, activists, and members of the public joined the demonstration. At its commencement, a perpetual flame was lit and floral tributes were offered at the memorial in Chemmani.
Participants in the protest voiced their demands, declaring: “We reject Sri Lanka’s domestic mechanisms and call solely for an independent international investigation into Tamil genocide, enforced disappearances, war crimes, and mass graves.”
