The statue of former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian and human rights lawyer, Nadarajah Raviraj was vandalised on Sunday. The decorative pottery placed in front of the statue was broken and the cloths that were placed across the statue was removed.

The supporters of TNA Jaffna candidate, Sasikala Raviraj had wrapped Nadarajah Raviraj’s statue in black, red and yellow cloth to protest against TNA's controversial recount in Jaffna. Sasikala Raviraj, widow of the assassinated MP Raviraj, failed to win a seat in the parliamentary elections triggering heavy controversy. The cloth was used to represent the TNA party and "signify the injustice" Mrs. Raviraj experienced.
Local police are investigating the incident.
