The outgoing Canadian High Commissioner has paid a farewell call on the TNA leader as she prepares to leave her Sri Lanka posting.
The High Commissioner, Shelley Whiting, paid a farewell call on R. Sampanthan “to discuss past reforms, ongoing needs and opportunities and reconciliation,” the Canadian High Commission said on Twitter.
Sri Lanka is one of the most dangerous places in the world to be a journalist. Tamil journalists are particularly at threat, with at least 41 media workers known to have been killed by the Sri Lankan state or its paramilitaries during and after the armed conflict.
