Malala assassination attempt suspects 'secretly' released by Pakistan military trial

Recent investigations found that 8 of the 10 men convicted with the attempted assassination of Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yusafzai were released.

The report come after Pakistani officials, in April said that all 10 Taliban fighters had been found guilty in a closed door trial and sentenced to 25 years in prison for the attempted murder.

A spokesperson for the Pakistani High Commission in London, Muneer Hamed, said that the eight militants were acquitted due to a lack of evidence in the trial.

The whereabouts of t e8 men are unknown. A Pakistani source told the BBC that the trial was held in a military facility instead of a court and shrouded in secrecy.
