Tamils from Manalaaru in Vanni, who remain forcibly displaced by the Sri Lankan army since 1984, have urged the TNA to act or else the "structural genocide [of Eelam Tamils] will be complete in Mullaiththeevu in 2 years" reported Tamilnet.
The displaced Tamils put their demands to TNA MPs Mavai Senathirajah and S Sritharan when the pair visited the area on a fact finding mission on Friday. The civilians stated that the Sri Lankan Army, citing 'land mines', was preventing them from visiting their lands.

Tamils in Mathagal and Thelakatti have also protested against the Sri Lankan military's expropriation of their lands, after the Government Agent of Jaffna, areas deemed High Security Zones would be retained by the military, despite recent assurances that Tamil land-owners would be allowed to return.
“Certain properties in Mathagal and Thelakatti, the latter which is located in the Pallali High Security Zone were earlier earmarked to be handed over to their owners, but now the army has written to the GA that these properties would be retained,” explained, TNA MP Suresh Premachandran.
Major General Hathurusinghe, who opened the latest holiday resort, run by the Sri Lankan Army, in Jaffna earlier this month, asserted, "the army will be forced to retain certain areas as per the requirement of national security".
