The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) passed a resolution on “ensuring accountability and justice for all violations of international law in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalam,” with 41 votes in favour, 5 abstentions and one vote against.
The resolution, passed on Friday, calling on all parties involved to cooperate with the International Criminal Court 2014 Gaza conflict to expressed grave concern over reports regarding “serious human rights violations and grave breaches of humanitarian law.”
The resolution stressed the need to “without delay” end the Israeli “occupation” and condemned the “long-standing systemic impunity for international law violations” that allowed for the “recurrence of grave violations without consequence.
India, for the first time on a resolution based on the Israel-Palestine conflict, abstained from voting.
